The arena, walking track, fitness and cardiac centres and the convention centre are part of the first phase of the total Communiplex Project. In the years that follow, phase one will be followed with second and third phases.
Melville's swimming pool is 41 years old and the curling rink is 37 years old. In the future these facilities will need to be replaced, and when the time comes, they will be built as additions to the Communiplex. As more phases are completed, the Communiplex will increasingly be at the centre of community life in Melville.
Planned additions include a performing arts studio, an indoor swimming pool, curling rinks and a second ice surface for figure skating, speed skating and hockey. Melville's Communiplex is to be multifunctional in the truest sense of the word.
